CME Group Adds ENA Reference Rates Across London, New York and APAC
CME Group has expanded its cryptocurrency benchmark suite with reference rates for Ethena’s ENA token, providing standardized pricing across London, New York and APAC trading sessions from August 24.
CME Group Launches ENA Reference Rates
CME Group has added Ethena’s ENA to its single-asset cryptocurrency benchmarks. CF Benchmarks will administer the products, which include daily reference rates and real-time indices designed to track ENA prices against the U.S. dollar.
The benchmark suite includes three regional rates. ENAUSD RR covers the London close, ENAUSD NY tracks the New York close and ENAUSD AP covers the APAC close. Each benchmark publishes at 4 p.m. local time in its respective region, giving institutions separate pricing points across major global trading sessions.
CME will publish the rates every day, including weekends and holidays, reflecting the continuous nature of cryptocurrency trading. Associated real-time indices will also provide updated ENA pricing throughout the day.
Pricing will draw from trading activity across multiple eligible spot exchanges rather than relying on a single venue. The methodology provides a standardized reference price that can support valuation, settlement and risk-management processes.
ENA Joins CME Group’s Expanding Crypto Benchmark Suite
The ENA addition extends CME Group’s cryptocurrency pricing coverage beyond major assets such as Bitcoin and Ether. Its broader benchmark lineup also covers cryptocurrencies including Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink and Stellar Lumens.
The regional structure addresses the lack of a single daily closing price in crypto markets. Traditional securities generally have defined market sessions, while ENA and other digital assets trade continuously. Separate London, New York and APAC rates allow firms to value positions using benchmarks aligned with their operating hours.
Asset managers and fund administrators can use reference rates for portfolio valuation and net asset value calculations. Meanwhile, trading desks can use real-time indices for intraday pricing and risk management. Standardized rates can also serve as pricing references for financial products tied to ENA.
For more efficient trading, institutions should consider top crypto derivatives exchanges for strong liquidity and execution.
